A deep commitment to continuous improvement drives both my personal and professional journeys. My diverse experience spans environmental stewardship, project oversight, and leadership in pipeline safety. I leverage my diverse skillset to make critical decisions in high-pressure situations, foster strong cultures, and develop the next generation of leaders through a combined focus on technical expertise and tactical empathy.
Do hard things. Strong people don't shy away from difficult situations. They face them head-on and push through to the other side.
The buck stops here. Great leaders are builders, not blamers. Every failure is an opportunity to learn.
Focus matters. Work intensely when needed, but also prioritize rest and recovery. Be a lion, not a workhorse.
Whatever you create, do it with pride. Strive for excellence and integrity. Your work should speak for itself.
Knowledge is a journey, not a destination. Never stop exploring new ideas, both within your comfort zone and beyond.

Building a Strong Foundation at Arcadis
In 2008, Arcadis became my professional launching pad. For five years, I wore the hat of an Environmental Scientist, tackling projects that would shape my future in a surprising way.
Coordinating waste management for dozens of sites wasn't just about logistics; it instilled in me a deep respect for environmental responsibility. I became a guardian of responsible disposal, ensuring every project aligned with regulations that safeguard our planet.
I interfaced often with regulators to secure air and water pollution discharge permits. This wasn't just paperwork – it was gaining an understanding of the intricate environmental regulations that keep our air and water clean.
Conducting Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments honed my attention to detail and introduced me to the world of underground storage tanks and site remediation.
Overseeing geologic drilling operations and the installation of vacuum extraction remediation systems taught me the value of project management and how to interact with contractors.
Arcadis offered more than just environmental lessons though. During my time there, my role morphed into one that provided on-site health and safety support for many oil and gas clients. I witnessed firsthand the importance of safety in the field. This experience planted the seeds of a future career path I hadn't yet envisioned.
Though my title remained Environmental Scientist, by the end of my time at Arcadis, my career had evolved into one focused primarily on safety in the construction industry.

Sharpening My Safety Focus at Hudson Industries
Joining Hudson Industries as a Safety Specialist in 2013 was a natural progression from my time at Arcadis. Here, I dove headfirst into the world of pipeline safety, specifically supporting greenfield construction and facility repair projects.
These intricate operations demanded meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to risk mitigation. My role wasn't just about following protocols; it was about anticipating potential hazards and ensuring the safety of everyone involved.
I became a trusted and valued partner to our clients, particularly during emergency response situations, where my ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure shone brightly.
Hudson Industries allowed me to expand my skillset beyond technical expertise, encouraging me to develop the soft interpersonal skills needed to influence others when you do not have direct control over them.
My leadership skills flourished at Hudson. Managing a team of five safety professionals solidified my passion for safety leadership. Mentoring and empowering others became a core responsibility.
My communication skills took their greatest leap forward while I was in this phase of my career. In addition to onsite support, my responsibilities ranged from conducting site specific training to developing written safety bulletins and site safety plans. The rigors this necessitated I be able to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization.

Becoming a Cultural Leader at Marathon Pipe Line
Marathon Pipe Line became my professional home in 2015, and served as an opportunity to gain perspective on the innerworkings of an oil and gas organization. Starting as an Operations Technician, I gained an intimate understanding of pipeline operations, managing the day-to-day activities of multiple facilities.
As my expertise grew, my leadership often positioned me as an Area Project Coordinator, tasked with overseeing contractors and peers during complex construction and maintenance projects. From here, I was able to foster a collaborative environment, emphasizing safety as a shared responsibility.
My leadership attributes were recognized and rewarded with opportunities to represent my peers on the behavior-based safety steering committee, and as the team leader during our pursuit of OSHA Voluntary Protection Program Star status.
Beyond the pipeline itself, I championed safety within my community. While representing Marathon at public education events for local emergency responders, I built strong collaborative relationships, ensuring everyone was prepared for potential emergencies. Responding to pipeline emergencies firsthand solidified the importance of clear communication, decisive action, and an unwavering commitment to safety during these critical moments.
In 2021, I embarked on a new adventure at Marathon Pipe Line as a Field Safety Professional. This role allows me to leverage the diverse skillset I've meticulously cultivated throughout my career. Every day, I make critical risk-based decisions in the field.
Building from my time at Hudson Industries, I embrace the idea that safety leadership goes beyond technical expertise. I strive to create a positive and collaborative environment built on a foundation of psychological safety. Employing Human & Organizational Performance principles, allows me to effectively build the trust necessary for my peers feel empowered to be safety leaders themselves.
My platform at Marathon also affords me the opportunity to curate a monthly newsletter and video blog that serves as a valuable resource for my colleagues. The newsletter, Craig's Corner, provides timely safety best practices, fosters open communication, and just-time-training for upcoming work.
"Lauren's husband" and "Madelyn and Katelyn's dad" are the titles I wear with the most pride. These ladies love me unconditionally and are my biggest cheerleaders. They're also quick to knock me down a few rungs when my head gets too big!
Bourbon Enthusiast. Being from Kentucky, I'm enamored with the bourbon culture. I love everything about it. The process, the smell... the taste. Bourbon just feels like home.
Live Music Lover. Whether it's a guy with a guitar at a campfire or a sold-out arena rock concert, something about a live music just speaks to my soul.
Youth Sports Coach. Kids need high expectations and someone to believe in them to reach their potential. But, if I'm honest, investing in their lives probably does more for me than it ever will for them.
Chronic DIYer. I have an almost unhealthy (and certainly financially illiterate) aversion to paying someone to do a home project for me. Why would I pay someone to do something I can learn to do myself on YouTube!?
